Basic Requirements of United Kingdom (UK) Standard Visitor Visa

Required Documents
1- Cover Letter
2- Valid travel document (national passport or other document that allows the holder to travel internationally and there should be a blank page in the document)
3- Previous travel documents/passports, which show previous travel
4- Application processing fee
5- Two recent photographs taken within the last 6 months
6- Confirmation of legal residence, if an applicant is not a national of the country in which he/she is applying or his/her right to reside there is not included in his/her passport

7- Financial documents showing that an applicant is having sufficient funds available such as:

  • Bank statements

  • Building society book

  • Proof of earnings such as a letter from employer confirming employment details (start date of employment, salary, role, company contact details)

8- Where a third party (who is either in the UK or who will be legally in the UK at the time of applicant's visit) is providing financial support to applicant e.g. a business, a friend or a relative, documents to show they have sufficient resources to support the applicant in addition to themselves and any dependant family should be provided

9- Details of employment or studies where an applicant have stated in his/her application that he/she is either employed or in full-time studies. This could include

  • A letter from his/her employer on company headed paper, detailing his/her role, salary and length of employment

  • A letter from his/her education provider, on headed paper, confirming his/her enrolment and leave of absence

10- If an applicant is self employed:

  • Business registration documents confirming the business owner’s name and the date the business started trading

11- Business activities – where an applicant is coming to the UK in order to undertake activities relating to his/her occupation/employment outside the UK he/she should submit documents showing what he/she will be doing in the UK, including any letters from inviting organisations. For example:

  • Any business activities, e.g. letter from his/her employer outlining the reason for his/her visit, who he/she will be meeting and details of any payment/expenses

  • For performances and entertainment visitors, whether he/she works in this area as a professional or amateur , and what and where he/she will be performing

12- Under 18 years – it is strongly recommended that submit the following information otherwise it may delay consideration of applicant's application

  • A Birth Certificate or legal document (such as adoption papers) showing the relationship between the applicant and his/her parent or guardian

  • If travelling unaccompanied or with someone other than his/her parent or guardian he/she should provide:

  • (i) A signed letter from his/her parent(s) confirming details of anyone accompanying him/her, and details of care and accommodation arranged in the UK

    (ii) A copy of his/her parent(s) or legal guardian’s biographical page of their passport, which includes their signature and passport number if his/her parent(s) do not have a passport then he/she must provide another official document which bears their signature

13- Proof of valid return ticket and/or travel itinerary
14- Proof of hotel booking

Basic Requirements of United Kingdom (UK) Transit Visa

Required Documents
1- Valid travel document (national passport or other document that allows the holder to travel internationally and there should be a blank page in the document)
2- Previous travel documents/passports, which shows previous travel
3- Application processing fee
4- Two recent photographs taken within the last 6 months

5- Evidence that an applicant's onward journey from the UK has been booked/confirmed, and that it is either within 24 hours of arrival in the UK for Direct Airside Transit or 48 hours of arrival in the UK for Visitor in Transit such as:

  • Travel booking confirmation (can be email or copy of tickets)

  • Travel agent confirmation

6- Evidence that you are assured entry into the onward country that you are travelling to, such as:

  • Residence Permit

  • Green Card

  • Valid Visa

7- If an applicant is not a national or resident of the country of destination, he/she may wish to provide evidence of reason for travel, such as:

  • Holiday booking confirmation
